Sonop, Namibia *New Opening – Summer 2019*

2019 marks the opening of Zannier Hotels’ second opening in Namibia – the greatly anticipated Sonop. A luxury tented camp nestled within the Southern extremity of the Namib desert, in the Karas region (Namibia). Due to open Summer 2019, Sonop has been designed to resemble a refined British colonial experience of the 1920’s; this out-of-the-ordinary lodge offers a unique experience in a panoramic desert landscape. Constructed atop a group of boulders, the ten spacious tents are richly furnished with antiques made from the finest materials, colourful carpets and precious wood. At Sonop everything is orientated towards the desert’s richness: all views are awe-inspiring, and a large list of adventures allow guests to admire the desert’s genuine beauty. Every evening guests are invited to enjoy an opulent gastronomic experience, where silverware and candelabras set the mood, enhanced by black-tie and white glove service. For guests’ ultimate comfort Sonop also offers a spa, a fitness centre and a heated outdoor infinity pool.

All tents at Sonop offer several roll-up canvas openings with panoramic views, a large bedroom, separate bathroom with double sink and a large copper bathtub combined with a rain shower. The bedroom features a four-poster bed with king-size mattress, a distinct living area with comfortable armchairs, a desk and a telescope to view the distant surroundings

The adventure continues with Sonop as breath-taking outdoor excursions are offered within the 5,600 hectares of the private reserve, where oryxes, brown hyenas, rabbits, foxes, jackals, kudus and leopards roam free. This includes exploring the desert by foot or riding horses from Sonop’s own stables in the colourful scenery ranging from dark purples to bright blue sky. Electric mountain bikes and comfortable game drives will allow guests to discover the light blue distant mountains. Other made-to-measure excursions will be organised on demand, such as hot air balloons, hiking or dinners in the wild.

Rates at Sonop start from EUR 560 per person per night (full board, including tax, daily scenic sunrise drive).
